you are a super model
/You’ve seen them on the catwalk and all over the media.. super models displaying the latest clothing and hairstyles. A model is an example to follow or imitate. Whether you realize it or not, you are a model... you are modeling Jesus Christ. This is why it is so important to lead as Jesus would lead... with integrity. What exactly is Integrity? Integrity is being honest, trustworthy, and fair.
Are you honest? Do you always tell the truth? Do you lie to someone to avoid conflict? I once observed a leader lie to a volunteer. After the volunteer walked away, the leader realized I was standing there and the fact that I had overheard her. She quickly said, “ I know I lied to her, but it’s just the easiest thing to do. I don’t want to deal with her this morning.”
Lying is a sin
If or when that volunteer finds out the leader was not being truthful, that leader will lose all credibility with the volunteer... and if news of it spreads, the volunteer risks losing credibility within her entire team. Is is really worth it? No!
Are you trustworthy? Do you do what you say you will do? Do you make promises that you know you can not keep or will not keep? Never make promises to a volunteer or the kids in your ministry that you know you can’t keep.
If you tell your kids that you are going to give away the most awesome prize ever to the kid that brings the most visitors to church during a kids event, be sure it’s really an awesome prize. If it’s a happy meal toy instead of something totally awesome, those kids will not trust you the next time.
When you tell a volunteer that you will contact them during the week to give them some information they have requested, be sure to follow through. I know kids ministry can be really time consuming, and it’s easy to let tasks slip by undone, but it is essential that your volunteers know they can trust you. If you are noticing that multiple tasks seem to be slipping through the cracks, it’s time to make some changes. Get organized, utilize a to-do list everyday, and delegate duties to other people on your team.
Do you treat your volunteers fairly? Treat people well, and treat those that serve in ministry with you even better! Don’t be rude to your volunteers or talk down to them. Give them credit for being an awesome volunteer. If something was their idea, be sure to let others know where that idea came from! Pass along any praise you receive for your ministry team. Always let them know how awesome they are.See yourself the way that God sees you. As you serve God, remember that you are a representation of Him, and you are in ministry because He has placed you there to accomplish something for Him. Spend time with Him daily, ask and depend on Him to help you resist the need to sacrifice your integrity. Let the light of Christ shine through you as you model Him daily in a super way!
“I am God. I have called you to live right and well.
I have taken responsibility for you and kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations”
