How to Wait on God

Holding still doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Just like a muscle strengthens in stillness, God is strengthening you while you wait.

Waiting…

Stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens.
To remain in readiness for some purpose.

Waiting is an action word — and it’s something I’m doing right now!

In the physical realm, it may look like nothing is happening.
But in the spiritual realm, I know that it is.

Holding the Pose

Waiting reminds me of holding a pose during exercise.
You’re still — but your muscles are working hard. You have to focus. You feel the burn.

Even though nothing seems to be happening on the outside, your body is being stretched and strengthened on the inside. You’re becoming stronger and better than before.

And sometimes… it hurts.
You want to rush through it, count faster, move on — but growth happens in the holding.

Waiting on God

This is so similar to waiting on God.

There are prayers to be answered and decisions to be made. While we wait, we actually have options.

We can see waiting as something torturous —
complaining, crying, growing desperate —
or we can choose to hold the position of prayer, faith, expectation, and readiness until God moves us.

It’s in these moments that He is stretching and strengthening us for what’s next.
How amazing is that?

Waiting isn’t wasted. It’s preparation.

What to Do While You Wait

PRAY
Talk to God — and take time to listen. He’s speaking even in the silence.

HAVE FAITH
Believe that He’s at work in your life. Trust that His plan is good, and that you are His top priority.

EXPECT
God is stretching you and strengthening you during this time. You’ll be stronger and more equipped for the next move He has for you.

BE READY
He’s equipping you right now! Stay ready. The next move is coming, and God’s timing is perfect. He will not disappoint you.

I’m so excited for you.
Hold that pose, everybody. 💪

“But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles.
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.”
Isaiah 40:31
