Big Faith Starts Young: The Beauty of Childlike Faith

Big faith starts young. Kids believe BIG! 🌟

There’s something beautiful about the faith of a child. It’s unfiltered, wholehearted, and full of wonder. Kids don’t second-guess whether God hears them — they just know He does. Their prayers are simple yet bold, and their trust runs deeper than we sometimes realize.

When Jesus talked about faith, He pointed not to scholars or spiritual leaders, but to children.

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him and had the child stand among them. He said, ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’”
Matthew 18:2–4

Jesus was making a powerful statement: real faith looks like the trust of a child.

Children don’t try to earn God’s love — they receive it.
They don’t overthink their prayers — they simply talk to Him.
And they don’t wait to see how things turn out before believing — they trust first. That kind of faith captures heaven’s attention.

The Kind of Faith God Celebrates

When Jesus called that child to stand among the crowd, He was teaching the adults something profound. He wasn’t highlighting innocence for innocence’s sake — He was showing them trust without hesitation.

Children believe because they know who God is, not because they’ve figured out how He’ll work things out. Their faith is anchored in relationship, not reasoning.

That’s the kind of faith God celebrates — unshaken, wholehearted, and full of wonder.

It’s the faith that says, “God, I know You can,” even when the mountain looks too big to move.
It’s the worship that flows freely, without worrying about who’s watching.
It’s the prayer that trusts God’s goodness, even when the answer hasn’t come yet.

When kids pray, heaven listens. When kids worship, heaven celebrates. And when kids believe big, God moves in ways that remind all of us what true faith looks like.

They’re Not Just the Future — They’re the Now

At Tell the Story Studios, we believe kids aren’t just the future of the Church — they’re the now. Their voices matter today. Their prayers carry power today. Their faith shapes the world around them right now.

That’s why we’re passionate about creating spaces where kids can talk to God, learn His Word, and build a faith that lasts. Whether it’s through story, worship, or creative expression, we want every child to know — God hears you, God loves you, and your faith makes a difference.

As adults, parents, and leaders, we get the privilege of fanning that spark of faith into a flame. Every prayer whispered at bedtime, every worship song sung from the back seat, every “thank You, Jesus” from a child’s heart — it all matters.

How to Encourage Big Faith in Kids

1. Pray together often.
Let them hear you talk to God in real, honest ways — not just “church talk.”

2. Celebrate answered prayers.
Big or small, show them that God is faithful and attentive.

3. Read God’s Word together.
Keep it fun, interactive, and full of conversation.

4. Let them lead prayer or worship moments.
Give them ownership and confidence in their relationship with God.

5. Speak life over them.
Remind them often that God is working in and through them.

Reflection

How are you helping the kids in your life grow their faith?
Maybe today’s the perfect day to remind them — God hears you when you pray.

Take a moment this week to pause, listen, and pray with a child. You might just be reminded what real faith looks like — faith that’s big, bold, and beautifully childlike.
