God speaks to us in many ways. Sometimes, He chooses to speak to us through dreams and visions. For instance, He may show you pictures, images, etc of something He wants you to know for yourself or someone else. A while back, I was sitting in a meeting and God showed me a vision! I’m going to share it with you today because this is for you, too!
In January 2003, I was diagnosed with adult-onset epilepsy, I was told I would have it for the rest of my life. It was horrible news for me, my family & my friends. This was a really big problem. It was huge like a mountain! We felt scared, sad, and we cried... a lot!
What are some things we know about kids? They like to play, and ask lots of questions. They are easily upset and self-centered. We also know that they are quick to believe and want to feel big and important! Sound like anyone you know? (insert laughter)
Knowing these things, how can we present the gospel to kids in such a way that they will experience the love and power of God’s Word? That’s easy...include them in the story! We can do this by using all the senses we possibly can to illustrate the gospel.
As a child, I was always so excited when my dad (aka my pastor) would schedule a kids evangelist and host a kids event at our church. I remember sitting in my seat with my head bowed, as kids evangelist, Cowboy Steve, lead all the kids in prayer. During that quiet moment, God spoke to my heart to tell me I would be a kids minister some day.
Super easy activity that kids LOVE to do!
FALL IN LOVE WITH JESUS - HIS LOVE COLORS OUR WORLDVIEW!
While working on this activity with your kids, talk about all the colors of the leaves. How beautiful and wonderful are the fall leaves that God created for us to enjoy!
What is recruiting anyway? In kids ministry, recruiting is assimilating a person from regular church attender to super star volunteer on your team… Woohoo!
In order to build a ministry and keep it moving… every church, big or small, should be in a constant state of recruiting.
Do you ever find yourself struggling to keep up with all the demands of kids ministry? Is it difficult to find enough volunteers, or are you scrambling each week to have everything ready for the weekend? I’ve been there many times, and these three keys have opened the door to successful wins in kids ministry.
Change is a beautiful thing!
I love change. I would say that I love change more than most people…. especially in ministry. I’m not talking about a complete overhaul, (although sometimes it is necessary, and I love it!) but I’m talking about tweaks here and there that will bring life to an area that seems to be overlooked or challenging.
There are two important things to do when trying to figure out which areas need change….
